Advent | Joy | Day 6

Joy

Jesus came so we could have the gift of His presence.

Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return.

    They will enter Jerusalem singing,

    crowned with everlasting joy.

Sorrow and mourning will disappear,

and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

Isaiah 35:10

Much like the dark and bleak days when the Prophet Isaiah spoke these words, this year has seemed to be wrought with fear and confusion. But just like during those despairing days of old, the words of the prophet still bring us such an exhilarating joy and hope that we can’t help but be filled with gladness. Many are seeking good news this season. The news that has been fulfilled through Christ Jesus is the good news, and we have the opportunity to take it to a dark and bleak world. We are heirs to this news, and our joy brings reconciliation to those around us. Go and share with those in your sphere of influence to see their sorrow and mourning disappear and watch their lives be filled with joy and gladness.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank you for the friendship, healing, and wholeness I have experienced by knowing you personally. Stir up the joy inside me that comes from being near to you. Help me bring that same joy to those around me. I know that you have anointed me to bring your Good News to those who need it, and I believe you are highlighting specific people in my heart right now that are ready to receive you. Send me, Lord. Amen.
