Advent | Preparation | Day 3

Preparation

Have I made room to receive Him?

For we are aliens and pilgrims before You, As were all our fathers; Our days on earth are as a shadow, And without hope.  “O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name is from Your hand, and is all Your own.  I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly to You.

1 Chronicles 29:15-17

God has always desired that we create a space for His holy habitation. His desire to be close to us, so close that He would become like us in human form, is woven all through the stories of the Bible. There is not one thing that we can do to dissuade Him from wanting to be close to us. His desire has been so strong to be in relationship with His creation that He provides everything we need to prepare our hearts for Him. In turn we have the opportunity to take that abundance and offer it back as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Him bringing us much joy. What can you offer willingly to Him today?

Prayer:

Jesus, I know your word says that as I draw near to you, you draw near to me. Today I am choosing to draw near to you. Help me be aware of how close you are to me. Show me what I can lay down before you to make more room for my relationship with you. I lay those things down now. Amen.
