Advent | Preparation | Day 1

Preparation

Have I made room to receive Him?

The voice of one crying in the wilderness:

“Prepare the way of the Lord;

Make straight in the desert

A highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted

And every mountain and hill brought low;

The crooked places shall be made straight

And the rough places smooth;

The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,

And all flesh shall see it together;

For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah 40:3-5

The Lord has spoken. He gave us His word and promised to reveal His glory to us. But are we ready? Isaiah prophesied and John the Baptist echoed this call to preparation. John the Baptist centered his ministry around the baptism of repentance so all could be ready for the revelation of Jesus. When we repent we simply change our mind and our thinking to line up with the truth of God instead of the lies the enemy has told us. When we believe lies, we miss out on the fullness of life and freedom found in Jesus. What about you? Take a moment to ask the Lord to reveal any area of your life where you need to repent and make room for the nativity story and the redemption found in Christ.

Prayer:

Search my heart today, Lord. Reveal to me what I need to hand over to You in repentance. I repent of those things now. I receive Your forgiveness and restoration, and with You, I am making room in my life for all You have for me. Have Your way in me, Jesus. Amen.
