Trusting the Process

Week 1, Day 5

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." John 15:1-4 NIV

The Father shows us His grace in the pruning process. The sweet grace of God is a supernatural enablement to live according to the Spirit and not our sinful nature. While the grace of God welcomes us in just as we are, it is too kind to leave us there. Our Father knows that as he prunes our hearts, he removes things that keep us from living fully liberated lives. Keep in mind, the scripture says that He prunes the branches that bear fruit. Sometimes the pruning removes seemingly “good” things to make room for God’s best things for us.
