Advent | Love | Day 3

Love

Jesus came as an act of love that we may extend love to others.

Now therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.

Deuteronomy 7:9

The love that God displayed by sending his Son, Jesus, was always intended to be a love that would reverberate throughout the ages. His love is so big, so grand, so vast, that it will never run out. Sometimes that kind of love is hard to imagine because, well, we don’t know how to love like that. Because God’s love is supernatural, it stretches our understanding of what love can be. This scripture reminds us that the birth, life, and death of Christ began a new covenant between man and God. It’s a covenant that cannot be broken because God sent Himself to us in the flesh to uphold mankind’s end of the deal. He is faithful to keep His covenant of love with us and to those in every generation who choose to enter in. This is the great love of God that is available to you today through Jesus.

Prayer:

Jesus, You did what we could never have done. You fulfilled a covenant without ever going back on Your word. That covenant promise to never leave us is still alive today and will continue throughout every generation. Thank You for always keeping Your word. Help me believe that what You have promised will come to pass, for your promises never fail. Your LOVE never fails. Amen.
