Recognize the Battle. Fight with the Word.

Key verse

God means what He says. What He says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it- no matter what. HEBREWS 4:12-13

It’s not uncommon to hear people say things like, “I would do anything for my marriage,” “I would do anything for my children,” or “I would do anything “to have a life like that.”

In good seasons, it’s easy to make such strong commitments. But the real test comes when we meet resistance.

But instead of making sacrifices in their marriages, many give up. Instead of investing time in their relationships with their children, many disengage. Instead of working hard to “have a life like that,” many people settle into mediocrity. In fact, when conflict arises, rather than recognizing the fight they are in, many well-meaning individuals simply walk away.

Recently, I recognized a battle taking place in my life that I’d personally missed for months. (This is big because if you don’t recognize the battle, you can’t fight it.) As soon as the Holy Spirit revealed what was happening, I took authority over the enemy. Then I asked God to show me how to win this war. Next, I stepped out of my comfort zone and sought wise counsel from a godly woman who has walked in my shoes before. I asked her for advice and heeded it. I ordered a few Christian books on the subject, and I read them. I began fasting one day a week for breakthrough and persevered through the discomfort. I spent time with God specifically about this subject, and I heard from Him. He gave me a scripture to stand on, so I wrote it down, studied it, and memorized it.

Taking these steps changed everything for me, and it can be the same for you.

Without Jesus, you can’t have lasting victory. When the enemy taunts you with his lies, it is your job to inject the truth into your situation by speaking out God’s promises.

Without Jesus, you can’t have lasting victory.

Once you have God’s Word on a subject, instead of being wishy washy, you can stand resolute in your conviction to trust God with any situation. A hefty dose of the Word spoken from your mouth cuts like a surgeon’s scalpel. His Word is the weapon that cuts the “junk” out of every situation.

I don’t know what you are going through right now, but hear me loud and clear... There is a battle being waged for your life and the lives of your loved ones. You can’t sit back and do nothing and expect to win. You must be firm in your conviction to walk with God wherever He leads. It may not be easy, but spending time with Him and standing on His Word is worth it.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your steadfast love. Thank You for Your Word that changes everything. Holy Spirit, help me to feast on Your promises and to feed my spirit with Your truth. Help me to know You more and give me the power to do what You have called me to do. I want to experience breakthrough in my life, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Show me what to do, and I will do it. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Ask Yourself:

1. In what area of your life are you experiencing an unrecognized battle?

2. What is one step you can take to stand firm and fight back?

3. How can you apply God’s Word as a weapon in that situation?
