Power and Authority

Key verse

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:18-19

When physical, emotional, or financial setbacks occur, what is your immediate response? Too often, mine is an outburst and whining, followed by kick-starting my “worry hamster wheel.” Why? Because that is the natural thing to do. It may take hours before I realize my endless worry is a product of the enemy stealing my peace and joy. When I reflect on who I am in Christ Jesus, and that He commanded me to fear not, I can stand in my authority. That’s right—I said my authority!

Jesus delegated that authority to us in today’s verse. This expands His command to the first disciples to “Heal the sick, raise the dead… Freely you received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8

When He spoke, “Go, therefore,” it gave us the authority to use His name and speak to the storms that come our way. No matter the hardship, struggle, or pain you endure, you have authority from God Almighty to declare victory and assert your authority over earthly and spiritual things.

No matter the hardship, struggle, or pain you endure, you have authority from God Almighty to declare victory and assert your authority over earthly and spiritual things.
Prayer

Jesus, I take Your command and delegated authority. As a child of God, I thank You that I am healed, healthy, and whole; I prosper even as my spirit prospers. This situation is no surprise to You, and You are with me.  I am more than a conqueror, and Satan will not steal my joy or peace in __________. I trust You will make me victorious. You won the battle. I am healed, whole, and complete in every way! Amen.

Ask Yourself:

What has been my immediate response when storms build?

What is going on today, this week, or this year that is impacting my joy and peace?

What am I going to do about it?
