Advent | Love | Day 5

Love

Jesus came as an act of love that we may extend love to others.

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17

Beloved. Dearly loved. This is how the Father describes Jesus—before He had done a single miracle or even begun His public ministry. Jesus came not only to show us how to love others but how to be beloved. In Ephesians 1, we find that we were created to be fully accepted and loved when we are found in Christ. If identifying as being beloved of the Father seems too difficult, that’s understandable. But don’t be resigned to stay there. His love calls us deeper. The reality is that as co-heirs with Christ, we are beloved children of Father God—no matter what we have or haven’t done. His Spirit is drawing you today into a full understanding of your place in the family.

Prayer:

Lord, Your love is pursuing me today. It is kind yet tenacious. Holy Spirit, reveal the truth and reality of Your love at work in my life today. I know you are too kind to leave me in darkness. Shine the light of your love on my heart today that I might know You for who You truly are, a loving Father. Amen.
