Advent | Preparation | Day 6

Preparation

Have I made room to receive Him?

Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” King Herod was deeply disturbed when he heard this, as was everyone in Jerusalem.

Matthew 2:1-2

It might have been described as a cosmic event. Wise men had made it their business to study and seek after a star that would lead them to the Messiah. But in the heavenly realms, the reality was that the Father was drawing them to come meet His Son. And although many others around them may have laughed and mocked them for the absurdity of what they did, the Father’s heart is what prompted them to follow that star. The Word became flesh. The Spirit of God coerced their sin drenched souls to seek Him, the Savior, the Light of the World.

The star can represent those things in our lives that the Holy Spirit is prompting us to seek after. Following the star required a level of obedience needed to discover the beauty in the finding. What is the Holy Spirit prompting you to seek after during this Advent season?

Prayer:

Lord, in your word you said that you have a plan and purpose for me. Today, I am putting my trust wholly in you, knowing that your Holy Spirit will lead me to my next step. If there is a dream that you have given me that has been buried under the day to day busyness of life, I believe that you are reviving that dream inside me now. Your will be done in my life, Jesus. Amen.
