Advent: December 12

Joy

Jesus came so we could have the gift of His presence.

After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.

Matthew 2:9-11

Finally! The season of persistent trust through the shadows gives way to the light of dawn! The wise men traveled far and, in the end, the fruit of their faithfulness was found in the very presence of Jesus. The promise of a Savior coming was the joy set before this world to endure the darkness. The Light of Life was born in a manger, and the darkness of this world could not overcome it. Look up. A new day has dawned in Jesus.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you that you always do what you say you are going to do. Even if I find myself walking through difficult circumstances, I remember what you have already done for me and that your faithfulness remains the same. Help me keep my eyes lifted to the JOY set before me. Come and remind me that you NEVER let me down. Amen.
