Overlook Ministry

Nick and Dorothy Mounts
Directors, Overlook Ministries
About Nick and Dorothy
Nick and Dorothy Mounts were called into full-time street ministry in Dayton, Ohio, in 1993. Commissioned by Dr. Dean R. Lundsford, they founded and pastored Overlook Ministries for three years. A personal tragedy hit in 1996, however, and they stepped out of ministry for a couple of years to cope with the death of their son in an automobile accident. In 1998, they moved to Merritt Island, began attending ECCC, and felt their dream rise up again.
One day, while leading a small group, they had the opportunity to share about their ministry in Ohio. They agreed to go to the local streets with some ECCC members, and said that one sandwich and one prayer was all it took to get them back to where they had left their dream and their calling. Ten years later, they remain committed to the people who live on the streets of Brevard County.
Purpose
The purpose of Overlook Ministries is to take the transforming power of the Gospel to those whom the world often does not see, those who are not able to give back at this time in their lives. With God's help, we strive to bring them to a place where they are equipped to live a balanced, productive life.
Effective ministry to the homeless takes more than a "quick fix" approach. The promotion of spiritual and emotional balance requires a unique blend of patience and tough love in a consistent, stable environment. This allows them to learn and grow in a non-threatening atmosphere where they feel accepted, providing a model reflecting the life of Jesus.
