Podcast

A podcast is a digital media file distributed automatically through a podcast client, like iTunes. You can use a client to “subscribe” to a podcast “feed” and collect audio or video. You can receive a podcast of our weekend messages. If you would like to understand a little bit more about podcasts and how this works, keep reading. If you are already familiar with podcasting, review our subscription options.

How To View or Hear a Podcast

First of all, it's important to note that you do not need an iPod or any other portable media player to listen to or watch podcasts. The name podcasting can be confusing in that regard. The only requirement is a computer with an Internet connection and a set of speakers or a pair of headphones.

The audio version of our weekend message is the simplest media option. The audio files are in MP3 format, and not as large as video files. This means that the audio files won’t take as long to download to your computer and will use less system resources than video files. Video files are in MP4 format and are larger than the audio files.

Once you have accessed a podcast, you can save it or delete it.

How to Subscribe to a Podcast

To begin receiving a podcast, you need to subscribe to it—much like subscribing to a magazine—so that you automatically receive each audio or video file. Our podcast subscription is free.

The majority of people who subscribe to podcasts use Apple iTunes to receive and listen to podcasts. iTunes is an excellent media player that works really well on the two most popular computer operating systems, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.

If you use iTunes, just select your choice of the “One-click” links (audio | video) to access our subscription page. Then select “Subscribe” and you are all set. iTunes will automatically download, organize, and store the podcast files for you.

If you don't use iTunes, there are other options for receiving and listening to podcasts. Juice is another free podcast receiver program that’s been around for quite awhile. Also, you might enjoy the Wikipedia entry on podcasting.

Subscribe to Our Podcast

We offer two options for subscribing to both the audio version and the video version of our podcast.

Audio

Video

The audio version of our weekend message is the simplest media option. The audio files are in MP3 format and are not as large as video files. So the audio files won’t take as long download.

Video files are in MP4 format and are larger than the audio files while offering the richest media experience.
